A Magnaxis picture book
Deep in the Whispering Woods lived a small fox cub named Luma. Every night the other animals hurried home before dark, because no one liked the dark at all.
But Luma was curious. "If we had a little light," she thought, "the dark would not feel so big." So she set off to find one, her paws quiet on the cool moss.
High in an old oak tree she met Ollie, a wise old owl. "I am looking for light," said Luma. Ollie blinked his round eyes. "Then look up, little one," he hooted softly.
Luma looked up. The sky was full of stars, thousands and thousands of them, twinkling like tiny lanterns. "They are so far away," Luma sighed. "How can they help me?"
"Catch just one," said Ollie. "Hold it close, and share it." Luma reached up on her tiptoes and, with a soft shimmer, one small star floated down into her paws.
The star glowed warm and gold inside a little glass lantern. Luma carried it carefully back through the woods, and everywhere she walked, the dark turned soft and friendly.
One by one the animals came out. The rabbits, the hedgehogs, even the shy deer. Luma gave each of them a tiny spark from her lantern, and soon the whole forest was glowing.
That night nobody hurried home afraid. They sang under the bright, kind sky. And Luma learned the best kind of light is the light you share. The End.
